The graph below shows the birth rate (live births per 1,000 people) in four countries between 1960 and 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

In many developed countries, the birth rate has fallen sharply and the population is ageing rapidly. Some people believe that governments should introduce policies to encourage families to have more children, while others think this is not the role of the government.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
